you share a house. I have been treating my indoor cat weekly. I'm always vacuuming and spraying my half of the house. Even taken her to the vet. My problem is I have an apartment in a house that I share with my landlords. they have 2 cats and 2 dogs. they will not treat thier poor flea infested animals or the house. how can i keep the fleas from coming into my place. I feel so bad for the animals. and I don't like having to treat my cat weekly. but if i don't she becomes severly infested. I don't have the money to move have dwindled my savings with flea sprays and vet visits. My next question is what health problems can fleas cause humans? I know they cause worms and respitory illness in animals

MANY diseases have been caused by fleas, ever heard of the "Black Plague"?
You can try the adavantage or whatever you use on your cat (not hertz hopefully). And Sprinkle Borax around (make sure your cat doesn't eat it). You can complian (maybe even anonymously) about the abuse the other animals are facing. Also you can use flea bug bombs (but make sure all people and pets are out of the place for awhile as stated on the packages). 100% Lavender and lemon oils can help,
BUT
unless they treat their animals you are most likely going to suffer along with your animals.

Hope you don't get ill either

I heard they found a couple of cases of the "black plague" again in New york within the past couple of years =(

If your landlord is not taking care of his animals and his part of the house, the fleas will hide there. You really about have to find a way to move to a cleaner environment, if your landlord is not noticing himself and his pets getting chewed up. Meanwhile, you could try putting your cat on Frontline or a similar product, after the next treatment. And confining your cat to your part of the house so he won't pick up the fleas so readily.

Fleas will bite, and can so spread disease. The bubonic plague is a rather extreme example of what could happen. Not to mention the bites will itch, and scratching could open a person up to infection.

Invest in "Advantage" at the vet or some pet stores. It is worth it. Put pieces of a flea collar in the vacuum bag and vacuum often. They can cause problems to the health of the cat for sure and I'm sure it's not great for humans either.

Maybe you could take time to wash, and bathe the landlords animals and spray them down. the best thing to kill, and prevent fleas is Revolution. It gets rid of several pests besides just fleas, it also gets rid of mites. Depending on where you live you could turn them in for abuse to the animals, endangerment of you, your home, and your pet. It is very serious. They could suck out all the nutrients from those animals, and give you and your cat very serious, life threatening diseases. I cannot name any right off the top of my head but they can kill you if there gets to be too many. But Revolution is the best, just apply down the back and it gets rid of soo much stuff. One treatment can cost anywhere from maybe $10 to $15, at least at my vet's office.

Save money, get rid of your cat until you can really afford one.
