Try getting to see a Cognitive Behavioural Therapist (CBT). CBT is very useful for reversing negative thought processes and was the main reason that I was able to get off antidepressants and lead a normal life again;

I understand what you mean cos Ive been feeling the same myself for the past few years. Up until last year I was blotting everything out with alcohol, but after a horrendous 2006 when I ended up in prison for alcohol-related offences due to alcohol, I came out in December and am now determined to not allow mind-altering substances try to alter my position. Life aint like that dont I now know - just a friendly warning dont go down that road (alcohol etc) cos it dont solve anything. In answer to your question, try reading "Feel the Fear and Do It Anyway". Very helpful - I just wish Id followed thru with my own advice on this one! Still its never too late (I hope).

It sounds to me as though you may need to work with a psychotherapist to deal with the issues you mention from your past.

There are different type of both therapist and therapy and the most suitable for you would almost certainly depend on your issues today and their relationship to past events.

Feel free to mail me if you need further information. CBT is ONLY ONE WAY of looking at things. I mention this as I see a couple of previous posts advocating its use without any mention that there are other therapeutic methodologies available that may be more appropriate to your needs.
