if you have, was it fairly easy to quit?

I have about 50 patients on Chantix. It is a useful tool. Though it is the most effective FDA approved smoking cessation medication, the major clinical trials demonstrate a 1 year quit rate of 22-24%. This is significantly better than placebo 12% or nicotine replacement 15% or Zyban 18%. The problem is not in getting smokers to quit (Our clinic has 1 month quit rates of 70-80%) but rather keeping them from doing something stupid (like picking up a cigarette) 6 months down the line.
I mention this to emphasize that you must be psychologically prepared to quit as well. You must learn to respect this addiction and realize that you will "always be 1 puff away from a pack a day". Fear that first cigarette like an recovering alcoholic fears a drink.

Good Luck
