Nothing you drink actually touches your vocal chords; the throat isn't wired like that. But many people (including myself) advocate drinking lots and lots of water to help ones voice. So how is that? By drinking lots of water and getting all of your body well hydrated, you vocal chords get the same benefit the rest of your body is getting, in that they also become well hydrated.

That said, I have never heard of vinegar as being good for your voice. I've heard of lemon juice, honey, gargling with salt water, there are several throat sprays specifically for singers, tea is good, etc. But I've never, in 11 years of choral and vocal performance, heard of vinegar as a vocal health tool/remedy. Best to stick with lots of room temperature water and warm tea with honey.

In the long run, vinegar may have nutritional and medical value for the whole body. But if you're looking for a quick fix, backstage before going on, try some straight lemon juice. Get a pint bottle of the stuff used in kitchens and keep it backstage with your makeup. Just a sip now and then does help loosen the throat, clear phlegm, and increase the saliva flow. Try it. It works! (Stay away from carbonated beverages, unless your show calls for unexpected belching onstage!)

Vinegar does have some good effects on the body, to include the vocal cords, but it should be used sparingly in an 8-ounce glass of water--a few drops only.

Ive never heard that but the absolute best thing for your chords is pure tap water! not cold not hot....straight out tap, room temparature...not even, like most people think, tea is good for your vocals because of the caffeine and different minerals....but something that is good that you can use to coat your throat is pure honey...not tons but maybe a tablespoon of it....THIS ABSOLUTELY WORKS when your sick and the show must STILL go on...had to do it last year when I had a 2 week performance of Once On This Island, no understudy and I had strepthroat!!
