The Word of God in its original language (Koine Greek and Hebrew) does not contradict itself. These texts were written under the inspiration of the Spirit of God (II Timothy 3:16) and were perfect.

The big hang-up for a lot of people lies in the translations of Scripture. All translations were translated by humans who were not under the inspiration of the Spirit of God (only the original authors were). This means that the possibility for error greatly increases, and unfortunately errors do exist. The best translation for the English speaking people is the King James Version. It is the version that was translated by the greatest scholars of the 17th century and done so with the greatest of care. This version does have errors, but they only exist in inconsequential information (ie. censuses, certain historical comparisons, etc.); there are no doctrinal contradications with this translation, which is the most important thing!

In other English translations such as the NIV, NKJV, NAS, and others, you will find omitted verses and doctrinal contradictions, primarily due to the fact that most other translations were translated from faulty, or inconsistent, texts that were rejected by scholars hundreds of years ago. So, if the Bible does contradict itself, it is due to the faultiness of mankind, but we do still have God's Word, especially in the KJV.

All you skeptics do a very nice job mining the websites of other skeptics for alleged contradictions. That would be like a white supremacist consulting the KKK website to see if he was right about black people. For every website that enumerates the so called contradictions in scripture there is another to explain why the skeptics are wrong. Try these:

Its not that difficult to find. Read the parable of the prodigal or lost son. The story is found in Luke 15:11–32 Read the actual words Jesus spoke. Not what someone has told you Jesus meant to say.

It tells of an unconditionally loving father who never judges or thinks of punishing his son in any way. This is the version of God that Jesus sought to teach us about.

This father has no silly ideas of judgment or punishment. Only great joy that we have returned to him.

After you have done this read any of the hundreds of depictions of an angry Judgmental punishing God scattered throughout the bible. They are not difficult to find, they are every where.

Only one of these Gods can be real.

I'm placing my bets on the one Jesus told us about. If I'm wrong, that's OK. I would much rather spend eternity with Jesus where ever he is, than spend a second worshiping The judgmental, punishing sociopath depicted in the old testament and in parts of the new.

the magic of written words, you can take a group of word and put them in a story and 100 people read this story, 60% agree on most of the story now its there job to convince the other 40% to understand the story as they do. So no matter how you read it, it can be for you or against you if you choose

The old and the new testament most blatantly contradict each other,
even the Christians know that,
I'm still not sure though why they use OT when Jesus himself contradicts it.

The bible doesn't contradict itself, seeming contradictions are a result of misunderstandings.
