NO, Everyone should be afraid of there mistakes.God never asked us to be afraid. But we get punishment for the wrong we do which comes under karma. So by that way, people get scared of god. God is allways watching us. And we get punishment for the wrong we do, No one can escape through it.

If you believe in God, then be prepared to always be afraid, because he is omnipresent. He knows everything you do. And he's gonna judge you based on the criterias in the Bible or the Quran.
But if you're an atheist, you live a care free life and live happily ever after.

I think that most Christians would like everyone to be afraid of God. My family believes that God is all fire and brimstone, jealous and vengeful.
If that's the God you believe in then, yes be afraid.

No one can be afraid of God because nobody knows what he really is. I am not an atheist as I don't have enough faith to be an atheist. Here i don't talk about the existence/non-existence of God. But i do believe God really exists and that no one really knows what God is.

Maybe. Who knows.

I was raised attending church every weekend and I went through a little 'I love Jesus' stage for a couple of years (which for the record, I am quite proud of).

I don't belong to a particular religion anymore. As I got older, I wanted to know more and I discovered I had a lot of questions. I got answers, but none good enough to satisfy me, as I'm still on my journey of spiritual growth and knowledge.

Anyway, I only say this because, sometimes, when 'I have the nerve' to doubt God....I actually do fear him.

Seriously though - how is it fair that whether to believe or not is our choice... when you're damned if you don't?

Aarh, I would love to have a chat to that man!

There is no reason to be afraid of God.
What you need to do is Love God just like you love yourself and you love your loved ones.
God reside in every soul and you need to love every one just like you would love your loved ones.
Are you afraid of persons and people whom you Love?
If yes be afraid of God in the same way, if not you will be at peace with God.

That's a rather subjective question that depends on one's own faith, morals and upbringing. Not everyone believes in a God, some people believe in a forgiving God, and so on. This is something you need to decide for yourself.

To be afraid of God is healthy in the beginning. Even fear personified is afraid of God. But those who take complete shelter of Him become fearless. Ultimately our original relationship with God is that of love. This natural propensity is now sleeping deep within our hearts due to our material contaminations. We should purify our hearts and reawaken our dormant love for God by engaging in devotional service under the guidance of His real representative, spiritual master. This service begins with the tongue. We should use our tongue to vibrate the holy names of God and to taste the food which has been offered to Him with love and devotion.
The holy names which are recommended in this age for chanting are:
Hare Krishna Hare Krishna Krishna Krishna Hare Hare
Hare Rama Hare Rama Rama Rama Hare Hare

The food which we can offer to the Lord is only vegetarian consisting of fruits, vegetables, grains, milk, sugar, etc. No meat, fish or eggs.

The Word says the Fear of the Lord is to respect God. Knowing that if we don't do as He asks, there will be consequences.
Don't worry about the forces of Creation that can drag one into
a negative reality. We can get screwed right here on Earth.
Because if we don't do as God asks. It's not God that will come
after us in this World. It's MAN. And man has no mercy. He will lock you up in prison until your mind and body rots. And won't care!
