Okay, my new year's resolution was to go on a diet FOR GOOD. I'm getting married on 12.20.07 and I want to loose 30 punds by then. That's do-able right? I know, I want to loose weight, and I do good for a few days, but when I see someone eating something really bad, then I eat some too... WAY TOO MUCH. What the heck is wrong with me, that I think I need these foods? How can I finally loose the weight that I want to and not binge?

Moderation is key. If you can't give up sweets or junk food altogether, don't try to force yourself. Not allowing yourself to have the stuff will just make you crave it more and nothing will satisfy you. Then once you do break down, you'll probably binge. Promise yourself dessert or a special treat once a week...say Friday night. That way, during the week you know when you have a craving it's just a few days away. Plus it gives you something to work for. If you know you're going to eat a piece of cheesecake on Friday, you know it's fattening, so Monday - Thursday you'll probably work out a little bit harder.

First of all, don't make any food forbidden. If you deny a craving eventually you will cave and then binge on the food you craved. I know it's difficult but just cut back on portions. Remember to eat only when hungry and stop before you feel full. It takes time but you'll soon train yourself. Like everyone says, load up on fresh fruit and veggies and of course be active. You don't have to run out and join a gym. Just start out by taking a brisk walk as often as you can. Then you can add some light weight weight training. Push ups, squats and crunches don't need any special equipment. Just make sure you stretch really well after any exercise while your muscles are still warm. Also, I have noticed a lot of exercise programs on tv lately. Find one that you like and commit to it! Have fun!

I'm in the same boat as you. I've been trying to eat healthier (though I ruined all my work over the Christmas holiday) and it can be extremely hard to not slip. You can talk yourself into eating those fatty fries for lunch by promising yourself to eat healthy for dinner. I think the best way to lose weight is to understand that it is a battle. You have to be willing to suffer the first few weeks until you are used to eating healthy and used to excercising every day. People always say that you can't diet for a short time...it has to be a complete life change and they are right. You have to tell yourself you will no longer eat those unhealthy foods you have grown to love. I'm already telling people who have known me since childhood "I don't eat pie. I don't eat fries. I don't eat donuts." Joining a gym will help, especially if you join with a friend. It is easier to lose weight if you have someone who can hold you accountable. Even joining a community blog where you can talk to other people like yourself can help. That's what I do and it is nice to know there are people like yourself who are suffering. Another tip, don't weight yourself every day. You will get discouraged if you don't see instant results and be more susceptible to giving up. Good luck!!

They're called cravings, and they suck. Big time.

Try eating less than 2000 calories a day, but at least 1000, and exercise about 30 mins. a day. Everytime you want to eat something you know you shouldn't, just imagine yourself at your wedding... 30lbs lighter and looking beautiful in your wedding dress.

Best of luck to you!!
