For under $200, there are not a lot of great choices,
but there are a few good values out there -especially
on the internet. Here's a couple that I like that should
adequately meet your criteria...

SYSTEM 1 (You really cannot do better than this for <$200)

- SPEAKERS: DAYTON HTS-1200B ($98.00/set of 5)
- POWERED SUB: DAYTON SUB-80 8" 80 WATT POWERED SUBWOOFER ($89.88)

SYSTEM 2 (About the cheapest decent complete system avail.)

- JENSEN JHT525 HOME THEATER SPEAKER SYSTEM WITH POWERED SUB ($49.96/system)

Each or total? Fronts or surround? ("Home theater" doesn't tell which.)
I used to have the same situation. That's exactly when I started making my own speakers. It's actually not that difficult if you're patient and apply yourself.

Fronts

Each: Paradigm Mini Monitors (I have a pair and they're the best sound for the money.)

Pair: The best price/sound bookshelf-sized combo at one of the mass market retailers, really. However, I feel obligated to give you at least an option, so it's this pair of Polks:

the appropriate encompass sound audio gadget money can purchase at the instant are not workstation audio gadget are are easily out of your funds. additionally - this would be a thoroughly subjective question and one guy or woman's "appropriate" audio gadget would not be the subsequent guy's. purely seek for something on your funds that have been given good rankings.
