Well, maybe it's a little streo-typing but, i thing it's because woman is much more emotional and needs songs about love, about heartbreak song, maybe they do it so they can prepared if they are heartbreaked, or simply they just like it somehow.

Because woman treat relationships / sexual or not, different than men do. Women develop feelings alot quicker than men do, so while men are at the aha, we are just friends stage women are already at the could this be the real thing stage. So when the guy moves on the woman is left heartbroken / and sometimes bitter so they therefor write songs about the experience and other women here the song and share the same feelings and they start to feel like hey, this is my theme song Because these songs say all the things that all women wish they could have said.

By the way my favorite one is " She Took it Like a man" by Confederate Rail Road

Glad you've noticed!

LYRICS express musically what we feel or can relate to. Women support MANY themes but to answer your question, "heartbreak" songs express broken-heart situations or feelings.

Many women love those songs because this is
1. the way they can vent,
2. their assurance that they are not alone in their grief, and
3. the words say what they may not be able to say outright.

But don't stop there.

Many people enjoy LOVE songs, LONELINESS songs, songs about DEATH, songs about STRENGTH, songs expressing HOPE...etc.

Don't focus only on heartbreak. Just keep in mind that the songs you hear - the LYRICS you hear - merely speak for ALL of us... and are NOT who we are.

Good luck!

First of all most women wouldn't date a man who was a jerk some guys trick women into thinking there really wonderful guys and than turn on them and screw them over. It happened to me. My favorite artist is Fiona Apple she sings a lot of guy bashing songs and sometimes women just want to know that there not the only ones who have been fuxked over.

Because unfortunately, most women have some form of heartache in their life and can find at least one song if not like seven or ninety three that they feel were written especially about them. I'm semi-guilty myself, right after I dumped this super bi-polar guy that refused to take meds or get help I heard that Pappa Roach-Scars song (I can't help you fix yourself, but at least I can say I tried, yadda yadda) weird coinsidence?

Nah, songwritters know that women are broken hearted and will buy their music if we think it applies to us! :) Good question.

I think more women sing songs about being in Love. I love angry chick music and there is very little out there. Not everything in life is about Love Ballads.

Don't make excuse for your bad male behaviour. (whine voice) "She knew me before we got together"

I really do try to open my variaties when it comes to music, im a happy person so I try to stay away from those types of songs. I need music that will inspire me not music that will piss me off.

because women are emotional and sometimes, for no reason we want a good cry, especially with other women, thats why we love Steel Magnolia's and the Notebook

Cos they wanted to be cheated on and tossed to the side like a piece of meat so they can sing a song about it while they cry into their babychams.
