For him milk is like dessert but for me it is hard. I have tried to give him formular milk (Cows and Gate, Hipp, etc) but he spits it out (I have tried it myself and indeed it tastes disgusting). Also he wants milk during the night even though he has a good dinner (soon after dinner, 1 or 2 hours later he will call me to have his portion of milk). So, I do not know how to stop breastfeeding, as I feel it is time to stop. Thank you.

You're choosing the right time to stop - I always think that after 18 months it is much more difficult.
Try giving him a cup. You must get him used to drinking other liquids, besides breast milk. Don't rush it, just say "no" during the day and offer a cup of juice or something that he likes the taste of. He'll soon get the message. When you've got that right, start on the night feeds.

Gradually cut down when you breastfeed until it is just a night time feed. Yes you can give him cows milk now - the formula stuff is disgusting. My first born I only breastfed til 6 months and my second son I breastfed til he was 12 months. I loved the experience, especially the second time and think I missed it more than my son did but I did feel 12 months was an appropriate time to wean him off. If he is waking up for night feeds still, offer him water only - he'll soon adapt as long as you are consistent. Good luck x

A baby is ready by a year old for whole milk. Many are ready before that. Give a sippy cup of milk or juice and only water during the night. Women used to rub bad tasting things on their nipples to get a child off the breast. I guess mustard, worcestershire sauce, A-1 would work. You could try that. Don't give in to him. Offer plenty to drink but not from the breast.

at 12 months - they can start having cows milk not formula - I wouldnt worry about weaning onto formula as then you'll have to do it again when he needs to go onto normal milk

have you thought about expressing into a cup / bottle and weaning that way? that way its still your milk but the 1st step of breast to bottle is easier - then just cut the expressed milk out and replace every other drink with formula / juice / water

it'll take some time

or the harsh way is just to stop breast feeding all together and wear tight bras so your milk dries up - but i wouldnt recommend this as it could affect him emotionally

Christ!! 15 MONTHS!! Don't the teeth tell you something? "Like these pearlies are for chewing?"

Are you giving him enough solid food? I started weaning at nine monthes because I felt she was getting older and i was due to go back to work.

You should pump him up with solid food at feeding time and reserve any breastfeeding for nights if that. But I wouldn't because he will see it as a pattern.

Just refuse the breast and let him get used to it. If anything make it cuddle time or something. So he cries, big deal, he's not dying.

You could just stop completely and put up with crying for a few days, he'll settle down when he realises it's no more, although this way might be more agony for you as your breasts engorge. Or you could (what i did) is cut them down gradually, until you only have a night or morning feed and then eventually stop that! I had no engorgement that way. When i knew i wanted to stop i also went out and bought proper bras to wear, so i couldn't feed him as easily, esp in public, this helped me. Good luck x

Just stop giving him breast milk. Keep your shirt on, and offer him a bottle with whole milk instead.

He certainly wont starve. You can try mixing a little fruit juice in formula, some babies like that.

He'll fuss and carry on and refuse, but he wont starve himself.

shrink out any daylight hours feedings first- if she starts off to cry or throws a extra healthful distract her. Get out new toys, etc. post with any daylight hours suits for a together as and she or he'll supply up. then you definately can attempt to cut back night feedings. My son does not visit sleep at night with out nursing and likewise awakened a number of circumstances a night to nurse. i desperate to enable him nurse to pass to sleep and then whilst he awakened I rocked him or rubbed his back till he fell back asleep. After some weeks of this he stopped waking up at night. Then I tackled the single feeding an afternoon we had left by skill of pushing him around the homestead in a stroller to get him to sleep at night, for each week. After that i'd desire to lay him down and rub his back to get him to sleep. She would get disenchanted yet breastfeeding is a 2 way highway and can grant up whilst the two occasion needs to- so don't experience accountable! i think of you would be stunned to ensure how person-friendly it incredibly is to offer up- I in no way concept i'd get my son to sleep with out nursing in spite of the incontrovertible fact that it ended up being incredibly person-friendly. reliable success! =]

cut down on the daytime feeds, offer cows milk as an alternative, you could keep the night feeds as comfort for him. As you feed him yourself less and less, your milk will get less anyway.
