When I got to the college and university level, all that homework caused me to need glasses. I did fine 'till then. :( (true story - ok I was older anyway) But it IS a valid concern...

Motion: Homework should not be abolished. No: 1. Homework overload may affect grades. Homework given too close to exams give students less time to revise past topics. 2. Parents dictate how homework should be done. 3. Parents give children correct answers, leaving no room for "learning from mistakes". 4. Students are harried by excessive homework.. less time to relax.. cause tension with family members.. much like a grown adult coming back from a bad day at work. 5. Homework often done haphazardly due to overload. 6. Race to finish homework forces some to burn the midnight oil, thus rendering then too sleepy and tired to concentrate the next day. Yes: 1. What other way is there to measure students' understanding of the topic? 2. Students who are not self-starters use the extra time for other activities. 3. Practice makes perfect.. Homework, especially in Mathematics, is the only way one can understand a topic eg How else to memorise the trios of the Pytrhagoras theorem? 4. Even a lot of homework is training for worklife, where overtime and bringing work home is the norm. 5. Ability to adapt to pressure. I don't really understand the second part (how to introduce yourself).

Homework, also mentioned above, if not completely abolished should be reduced to a large amount, because the topics we learn at school, are the basic stuff we get for homework, if we didn't have homework, it would help the students in just reviewing the topics orally if not in writing format. It surely would help the students to relax a little more, and may be therefore, pay more attention in other classes.

Homework should be abolished because it takes some
of the responsibility away from the teachers to teach. It overloads the students which can lead to educational burnout. Homework can cause stress which
in turn reduces conductive learning.

Lots of load on the students.
Days when they are supposed to enjoy the days of their lifes, they are subjected to this load of home-work
The subjects are so many ,that the net home-work combined is so high that the students have no leisure time.
Stress-level among the students is increasing because of thi study -overload.
We need peace,so though not completely abolished,it shld be reduced to a large extent.
Students don't get time to study as most of the time is ewasted in home-work.......

Sounds like you are going to disprove your own argument. By not having done your homework, you are not prepared for the assignment. You should just admit defeat as a result of your own theory.

from a parents point of view: there are already so many time constrants put on the family - work, school, bills, etc. when teachers pile on homework without regard to what else may be going on in someone's life, it actually does put a strain on the family. also, parents should play an active part in their childrens education, but they shouldn't be required to teach their children school subjects. many times, due to the teacher's schedule, they leave it to the parents to pick up the slack or the kid fails. this isn't fair to kids who have both parents working or parents who are in school themselves.

Well you could say homework is pointless because 75%(if not more) of students don't complete the homework therefore causing most people to fail there classes. If homework were abolished, more students would pass there classes.
