It depends what you believe in. I believe, as a Spiritualist that we all have a soul, or spirit, which returns to the Spirit World, or Heaven after earthly death. The reason we are here, as I understand from those in Spirit, is that we need to experience life on earth to learn lessons for our soul's progression. There are many levels in the afterlife and to progress to the highest our soul has to learn many things. That is why we have reincarnation - what you didn't learn the first time around, you learn in subsequent incarnations. As to Earth bound life being a drag life is what you make it. I try to lead a good and happy life, but yes, sometimes, it can be a ***** eg. when someone you love returns to Heaven, it is painful. As to be itching to get to Heaven, or Spiritworld, as I, or anyone, does not remember that life then we don't know what we are missing there. I have no fear of earthly death and look forward to returning to spirit, but while I am here i am damn well going to enjoy myself!

We are all here to serve some sort of purpose and you haven't found what you are here for yet thats all. Life is what you make it so have a positive attitude and think what you want out of life then take steps to get it. Forget afterlife stuff concentrate on the here and now.

Sorry guys, but I will have to go with the evidence here. There is hardly anything (credible) to say that your spirit or soul stays in one piece and seperate from its environment after you die, and it is very unlikely that it goes to a special country for souls without bodies called heaven (which no geographer, togographer or astronaut has ever found).
Therefore, make the most of the life you have, and DO NOT FORGET TO HAVE SOME FUN! Or else you may miss out altogether.
But seriously, we are not just here to be selfish and nasty. We have the duty to be good to each other, and the chance to help make things better either by giving to or doing work for charity, or by persuading the government to fund good causes better.
But seriously, do not forget about your own fun and personal goals in life and that of people you are related to, living with, or close with.

No, I love it here on Earth, the world run by a few, the majority with little or no say in it, the majority working to scrape a living while a few fat cats get even fatter, and best of the saver of man, our religions, supposed to bring us all together as one, but never has there been a better excuse for wars.

we are here to reproduce. in this life. now. reality.
life itself i feel, is nothing more than a complex chemical reaction with a self replicating molecule know as dna as the driving force.
looking at nature the thing that strikes me is the overwhelming need for every organism to reproduce.
i dont need any spirituality or eternal bliss in some after life to keep me going. i would rather think for myself. i try show my kids how big this universe is so they can explore it for themselves without fear of offending some silly book thumping dunce.

cant really tell you... all i can say is you live for what gives you the most joy in life, if loving someone or people is what gives you happiness then thats what pushes life forward, if you live to help those in need, thats your calling. if we dont have something to move us forward then life is very hard to live... i personally dont believe in the whole godly christian crap, but something about egyptian burials and afterlife intrigues me, their vast knowledge of thigns we still dont know today is what makes me wonder about how they saw the afterlife.. i feel sometimes maybe you can be released from the body after death and even though you dont physically exist, youre exactly who you wanted or saw yourself to be.. who knows...

I am a non-believer. Life can be a drag for everyone, but it's all we have. I find non-believers more realistic when it comes to adversity. Relying on a god to get you through is dishonest and irresponsible.

To worship of the One True Almighty God of the Universe [Allah ]
And no Earth life is not a drag, this life is very meaningful and purposeful to the Believing Muslim, as we realizes that it will determine the outcome and permanent position in the Next Life.

Ah but you see we need to prove that we deserve the afterlife in paradise. We can't go letting everybody in regardless -it's not England.

Exactly! Yet people pray to god that their sick friends and family members will get better. I understand not killing yourself, since I've heard God frowns upon that. But surely a terminal illness is a positive thing if you're certain about heaven.
