Are you self-conscious about what others may think of your looks? Don't be. Everyone at the gym is there for the same reason, probably: to be healthy. Sometimes we get so concerned with what others may think, but most likely, no one at the gym would care.

If you've never been, fear of the unknown. Fear of how others may perceive you. Things of that nature. Remember...everyone was new to the gym at some point. Most gyms are quite helpful. On your first visit (sometimes the first few), one of the employees will help orient you to the gym and the equipment available as well as proper useage and perhaps get you started on some sort of an exercise plan. Ask them about proper gym ettiquette as well as some people are clueless (wipe down machines after done, pay attention to time limits, don't hog a machine by sitting there yapping with someone else, etc.).
To the person who thinks that 'skinny' healthy looking people don't need to go to the gym...get real. Exercise is very important to everyone's health and it is important that once you achieve your weight loss/fitness goals that you continue to go to the gym to maintain what you have achieved. I'm guessing you may have never stepped foot in a gym.

You might have some insecurities about how u look like if this is the fact then dont worry. Everyone has these insecurities coz noone is perfect believe me hon. and maybe u might not know how to use all these big equipments so start off easy with a bike or treadmill and ask trainers there for help. Or u might think u have to compete with the people around u .... u dont have to u are ur own person and just do ur best.
and last who says excersizing att the gym is a must u can always excersise at home.

I work out just about every day and if I don't have gym access, I just do sit ups or something. Maybe you're self conscious about something or worried that someone else is 'stronger' than you are. Try doing a warm up on your own before you go to the gym and maybe you won't be so anxious.... maybe.

If you're that nervous, spend your gym membership cash on an exercise bike & treadmill & stay at home. Or run around the streets for exercise. Or get a tracksuit & nice shorts.
