I don't think you need them at all. Unless you are going to be living up in the northern jungles for the whole time, it is highly unlikely that you will be exposed to malaria here. I've lived here for 6 years, and I have NEVER heard of anyone getting malaria anywhere in the country.

Hi,
Unless you had a consult in Spain for your Thailand trip, I strongly suggest you see a travel clinic or look up international guidelines (up-to-date) on malaria prophylaxis. Each region (even country) has it's own guidelines based on parasite (Plasmodium) susceptibility and resistance patterns. For example, I'm working in sub-Saharan Africa, and the ones taken in countries here would be different from the ones you would need.
I think in Thailand, if you are going to be in areas with a risk of contracting malaria, the guidelines may be either Doxycycline (100mg/day) or Malarone. Resochin (Chloroquine I believe?) has disadvantage of malaria in many parts of SE Asia being resistant to this drug. I would recommend Doxycycline. If you won't be in a malaria-risk area, you can just use repellents/nets etc.
Hope this helps.

I am also going to Thailand and have a prescription for Malarone, because I will be travelling near the borders and forest areas. Generally the risk of maleria is low away from the borders- check out the website for your destination

Thailand has chloroquine resistant malaria, so mefloquine is recommended for prophylaxis, not chloroquine.
