take a half cap of vinegar and half cap of water and pour it in her ear and then rub her ear. That will kill the yeast that is possibly in her ear. The vinegar will not hurt your dog.

I hope that helps!

It's an ear infection (probably a yeast infection if it smells), and it's probably very uncomfortable for her. Take her to the vet and they will prescribe ear drops. This is the only solution to the problem, so don't try to treat it at home! Some dogs are prone to them, so you might ask the vet if you can keep extra drops at home in case it happens again. It can also help relieve some of the pressure if you have her ears cleaned (please have a vet or groomer do this, you can hurt her badly if you do it incorrectly). This will only be a temporary fix though. My dog gets ear infections and I've taken him to a groomer to have his ear cleaned before if the vet was closed and I had to wait a few days to get his drops. Good luck and please see a vet ASAP so your little girl will start feeling better!

That smell sounds like yeast. Lots of good answers. When my dog had a yeast infection, which smelled terrible, my vet gave me drops to use for her ears and suggested Selsun Blue Medicated Shampoo to kill the yeast in her skin. My dog gave me such a hard time with the drops, I didn't do it. But the shampoo did wonders! It not only got rid of the yeast in her ears, but apparently her ears as well. Although I never came close to her ears with the shampoo. The yeast is gone, the smell is gone and she isn't scratching or shaking her head like before.
I suggest take her to a vet to make sure of what it is exactly and get it treated.

Vets sell an ear wash that they use for this. Buy it from them.
I do this regularly with mine.
Hold her head in your lap and turn the ear up, squeeze the wash in the ear and hold over the flap while you message the whole ear.
Then just let her go, she will sling the wash and anything else out with it. Outside is where I do this. Then towel off the outter ear. You can repeat this as often as needed. My dog came to enjoy his ear washing over time.
The wash seemed pricey at first, but it lasts a long time and is way cheaper than having the vet do the exact same thing.

Good Luck!

Your animal likely has ear mites Get a little veg oil and add about 1/4 ether to this, then put some into the ears off all animals in the home and then about 10 days later repeat the treatment this will not hurt the animal so don't be afraid to treat the animal for 10 days or so this is not poison as is a lot of other stuff Charles

could be a number of things. can you see if the ear is swollen or red? if it is then it could be an ear infection especially if it stinks really bad, then you'll need to take her to the vet. if you see a bunch of what looks like black grease inside and yes if mites are bad enough they'll stink, then its possible that it's mites in which case a wet warm cloth and mineral oil should do the trick. just pour a small amount of mineral oil into the ear and rub it from the outside so that it loosen the mites, wait a few minutes, then using the cloth gently wipe the inside of your dogs ear removing the black ****. if its bad enough you may need to do this a couple times. if you see the black stuff and you think its really bad have a vet do it and show you how for next time.

It sounds like your dog has a very bad ear infection. I suggest taking her to a vet. The vet will probably put her on antibiotics. And you might have some kind of drops or ointment for the ear itself.

Good luck!

I also have a rott and it sounds like she has mites or fleas. Also the nasty smell you smell could be coming from her ears. Their ears can drain and sometimes, even though this sounds gross, so can their anal glands. If your Rott scoots on it's butt, it could have blocked glands, as it sounds like is the case with the ears.

I would recommend a trip to the vet to determine the cause of the itching. Both mites and fleas are very treatable.

Also, word of advice with Rotts - watch your furniture with her. They love to chew things.

HI
The smell indicates a yeast infection which is quite common in dogs just get some ear wash from the vet and follow directions and it should be gone soon.

Its probably ear mites or an ear infection. Both can be treated with drops in her ear. Take her to the vet just to be sure.
