I had mono when I was 12 , I had it bad and for much longer than my friends. Although it may sound crazy to some, I never felt right again. I am now 32 .For the last 20 years I have suffered with symptoms of extreme fatigue, joint/muscle pain, burning/tender skin, freezing cold hands and feet, low-grade fevers, floating rashes. I can be basically symptom free for months and just when I think it might be gone it hits me again. Most doctors have brushed me off- some have flat out said that they don't believe me. It has gotten me diagnosed with everything from bipolar to hypocondria.I have a good doctor now and we are trying to figure it out. I'm at my wits end!I am a very ambitious person and I want to be productive but when this hits me I can be dragging for weeks. It is keeping me from reaching my full potential. Please help!
Does anyone with similiar problems have any idea what this could be? or advice on how to cope?

I would suggest requesting an autoimmune panel. Sometimes in a susceptible person infections (especially viral, including EBV) can set off an autoimmune reaction where the immune system mistakes the body (parts of it) as a virus/invader.

Not saying that's what it is, but they should do tests for autoimmunity. Make sure they check ANCA, ENA, ANA, anti-Ds DNA, thyroid. At the very least, when you feel in one of these 'down' times, get these bloods done. At least the ANA.

Hope this helps.

It's good that you have a found a doctor that is willing to work with you to find out what is wrong. Has he/she checked into Chronic Fatigue Syndrome? I've heard about it here and there, don't know much about it but it may be worth looking into. In time your doctor will find out what is up, but it may take a lot of time. Be patient, but sure to rest and take vitamins and exersize. Even if you think you don't have the energy to do it, take a short walk around the block (weather permitting of course). Good luck!
