As they were written(in the case of the Bible at least) some 400 years after the events/people they describe and by people hundreds or thousands of miles from where the stories originated.

A belief in God is good, it means you have some understanding as to the origin of the universe. But it is very necessary to also know that Jesus Christ came with a message of LOVE! And that Love if accepted by you will assure you a place with God when the end comes.

As for the Bible, It is a good book for guidance and it was inspired by God in its original writings. Man, in the form of priests, preachers, political leaders, and even those who wrote the copies since then have changed the meanings of many passages, have added passages and deleted passages. This has been done to control people through fear and it is still working today. I am not saying that you should not believe the Bible but just learn what is true and what has been twisted to please man.

Below are a few references that may help explain my stand. This information would be good for most of you Christians out there as well, I had many questions as to why the Bible says one thing and the preacher another that is opposite. This information strengthened my understanding and Love for God and Jesus.
For those who do not believe it may change your minds as well.

God is a very nebulous term. Many people who are effectively atheists in terms of contempt for organised religion and common concepts of anthropomorphic deities still believe in the idea of some unifying force or original creative act. Others identify god as being the summation of all natural laws, or believe that god is the universe. So I'd say yes to your question, although personally I don't see the point in slapping such a lable on things!

Sure. The originators old the world's religions did not have a religious texts.

Finding God is the primary objective in spirituality. Religious texts may inspire, but they will not help you find God. That is something everyone must do for themselves and experience themselves.

If you believe in God...ok...now go deeper. What are the images of God that may be wrong...do you feel the presense of God...etc, etc, etc. You could do what Buddha did and sit in one place and meditate for as long as it takes unitl you find out the truth.

God, not the texts, are what matters.

I do. I believe there is no way for us to truly know what 'god' is. Maybe just a life force, maybe love, maybe he/she/it is what has been taught to us. I think it's the vanity of man that fools us into believing that we know what god wants of us. It's pure silliness, actually. People are so full of themselves that they think they know everything. If one of the religions we have already were completely true, there would be no contradictions in it's texts and the WHOLE world would find it to be true. The religions we have today will probably die out just like the religions of the ancient greeks, romans, and egyptions... then people will study them in text books and wonder how it was possible for us to believe such obviously untrue things.

Believing in possibilities is how I describe my beliefs.. because everything is possible.

BIBLE WRITTEN AS IT WAS LIVED THEIR GOD IS IN IT

This is why the bible is so hard for people to understand. O.T. books 1110 years and done 443 before Christ, N.T. 50 to 100 after Jesus as things developed to John at Patmos still in Roman Empire #6. History is true and correct in the bible.
The genealogy to Jesus is correct. The priest line 1Chr.6:1-15 is correct. The king line Ruth.4:18-22;
1Cor.3:1-17; Matt.1:1-17; is correct. The prophecy is based on world history and is
correct.
Most people want to deny and never learn the true education the bible has to offer.

End time days:
Micahel of Jude 9; for Dan.12:1-13 end time days at Rev.12:1-12 with holy angels cast down Satan and unholy angels and THEY HAVE A SHORT TIME IN END TIME DAYS AS UNHOLY ANGELS AND UNGODLY MANKIND Matt.25:31-34 as GOATS MUST END.

So the bible was meant for end time days and 1611 after Christ was published for the world and in 303 years is an excepted translation by law of man and God.

Religious text? The people in the bible knew the whole book, not just what they wanted to make out of it. God is over all that exist, not some.

No.
Some of the New Testament was written around 40 AD. This would be within 10 years of Jesus. Not much time for error, especially since there were many alive that knew the truth.

Without the religious texts, then which god do you believe in. They aren't all the same.

It should be obvious that people choose to believe what ever turns them on.
Young people ( under thirty ) are
,according to a recent study, opting
increasingly for "a personal relationship with God" rather than
than church directed dogmatism.
It appears from TV church shows
that there is increasing interest in
church music rather than in a persons sex life as interpreted from the bible.
So you have my admittedly insignificant OK.
Can you define for YOURSELF what is
this "God" you wish to believe in.

Sure it is. I am an Atheist but my husband is not. He does not believe in any of the religious texts but he does believe in God. Just because you do not believe in the religious texts does not mean you cannot believe in God or have spirituality. You have to find out what works for you...What makes sense to you.... It does not have to make sense to anyone else. In my opinion everyone believes in something that makes life make sense to them. Does that make any sense?

It is a beginning but why would you not believe that the Bible is the inspired word of God. That gift was given to me. If you sincerely want to find out the truth then He will help you too. He doesn't impose Himself on us. We have to ask for help if we want it. No Christian can convert another by the way. They become Christians because they recognise and want to live by the truth.
