Okay, I keep hearing everyone saying white bread is just horrible and they cut it totally out of their diet. But If it only has 70 calories and 1.5 grams of fat for 2 slices how is that bad? It is still a grain of sorts, right? And still counts towards your daily serving of grains.

I just don't like the taste of wheat bread, at all. I feel it ruins the sandwich and I'd rather not have it at all.

I love white bread too.
However, it's bad for you. The reason is not on it's calories which is not high, as you mentioned; it is because since it lacks fibre and other nutrients, it's pure carb. Why is pure carb bad? because after eating it, your blood sugar shoots up and then dip down. With this kind of spike in your blood, it has implications on your nutrient absorption (food can be easily converted to fat rather than something else), your bad cholesterol (LDL)...etc.
So, Life is hard, try to eat mostly whole grain bread and only indulge on White occasionally.

Most white breads lack nutritional elements not found in whole grain varieties.
Look up Cornell Bread on the internet for a way to make your bread much more nutritious and healthy without having to eat stone ground whole wheat types.

I'm with you on the white bread! I raised two children on white bread, because neither one of them liked wheat. They are now both in their 40's, healthy and happy. And while they now eat wheat bread, they still feed their children white bread.

A few years ago, a person with heart disease could not eat eggs, drink coffee, had to eat bran muffins, no margarine, no butter, etc. In due time, all this proved to be false. A good well-balanced diet is desirable, though not always achievable. Don't worry about the white bread thing. It isn't going to harm you or your family.

The problem is that white bread is made with ingredients that have been so refined they are no longer beneficial for your body. It is in fact an "empty" food. If you want to go whole grain, you can try to slowly wean yourself from white bread, and high quality whole grain bread from the bakery tastes much better than the stuff from the grocery store anyway. You can even try making whole grain bread yourself.

nah its not "bad" for you. you'd be much better off eating white bread sandwiches than chips, or most other food. but it is considered "bad" compared to whole grain bread (brown) because for 1) it has a lot more fibre. and 2) it has more nutrients and all the good stuff. personally, i dont like brown bread, but everyone lse in my family does so i eat white bread but just less of it. for example: instead of eating 2 slices of brown bread with ham in it i would eat 1 slice of white bread sandwich with ham and an apple or something to even it out.

Try a multi grain bread. There are many options besides just white or wheat.

From what I understand, white bread has no nutritional value whatsoever unless it's fortified.
