The correct name for this drum is the doumbek or doumbeka. If you go to a Renaissance festival, you'll see people playing them all over, and sometimes those drummers get together for a "drum jam." You can pick up some good tips and rhythm there. Do an online search for doumbek, and you'll find lots of good sites. Try the one below for some soundtracks...
