I've never had one but I've known people who have and they all said that they should've just had the tooth pulled. The problems with root canals is that if you don't get a crown then that tooth is always exposed and it will have a hole that will not be filled so bits of food will get in there and it's hard to get out. If you don't get it out then it will cause more decay. The tooth is weakened so it will be prone to cracking and crumbling and it can break off at the gumline, then you would need an oral surgeon to cut open the gum to remove the tooth. Crowns run about $800 +. An extraction is about $75-$125 depending on if there is any infection or not. If you can't afford the crown then just have the tooth pulled. It can save you a lot of pain and hassle down the road!

Well alot depends on what tooth , if is on the bottom usually they can do this with very little pain , the process is a bit scarry though drilling about 2 inches into your jaw bone. I had a root cannal on my front tooth after getting my teeth knocked out in a fight with an older kid. My Mom took me to the dentist and when I was sitting in the chair I saw the size of the drill he was planning to use on me, as soon as he turned his back to me I bolted out of the office, my Mom dropped me off everyday and I sat on the curb crying not wanting to go inside, finally I did and was fixed up, it scared me but alls over with now. there are nerves in your mouth that even novacain can't get too sometimes, so sure is possible will hurt, but just do like me scream if it hurts haha.

You will be given a local so no the treatment itself won't hurt although the injection may sting.
The treatment normally lasts a while so your jaw may ache from being open a long time.
Afterwards the tooth may feel tender or even quite painful but take painkillers and it should calm itself after 24 hours. Good luck!

Yes sure it does BUT DO NOT FEAR as the anaesthetics will finishv the pain and u will feel only the pressure put on to ur teeth.during the root canal do not concerntate on ur teeth but on something that makes u feel good like God but it will not last more than 2-3 hours
NEXT TIME BRUSH UR TEETH PROPERLY TO SAVE URSELF FROM SUCH A POSITION.

after you got your injection it wont hurt. but if you are feeling more than some mechanical pressures let your doctor know. it wont hurt after treatment. Anaestethic injection may cause you headache aftre some hours.
You should still be careful with your root canal treated tooth afterwards cause if it gets some decay again you wont feel it as fast as before.

Does root canal treatment hurt? The treatment should be as painless as getting a cavity filled, according to the American Association of Endodontists. In fact, people usually see the dentist because they're already in severe pain. You'll be given a local anesthetic to make the area around the affected tooth as painless as possible. Root canal treatment has become increasingly sophisticated over the past 15 years, particularly since dentists have begun using surgical operating microscopes that make it far easier to trace the paths of root canals. But if you're still concerned about pain, talk to your dentist about how much pain makes you uncomfortable. Your dentist may be able to adjust the amount of anesthesia or give you nitrous oxide to make you more comfortable.

I had mine with shots of novocaine and it didn't "hurt" because the area was deadened. It was more uncomfortable because of the length of time you are sitting there with your mouth open while they do the work. It's not a fun procedure but it is neccessary to have. In the old days people actually died from having rotten teeth because the infection traveled to the brain!
Good Luck with the procedure!

Personally, I can't see why anyone would spend about 1000 on a single tooth! Even if you have insurance to pay the majority of it. I mean, for that price, can they guarentee that that one tooth will be in your head should you grow old when you die? I think not.
