My two year old has had a really nasty cough since right before Christmas.. She's also had a runny nose for about that long too.. Day before yesterday she started complaining of her neck hurting her.. Her temp has been staying constant around 99-100 and when I spoke to my doctor the other day (before the neck pain) he said as long as her temp is under 101 she's fine.. Just give her plenty of fluids and let her rest...

Should I take her to the ER or just keep trying to get my doctor to see her?
Any suggestions would be great!

if you take her to the er they will send you to the doctor if its just a cold. call the doctor again tell him that you need to take her to see him demand that he take her and see what is wrong. if he does not find another doctor.

I would have told the doctor I was bringing her in when he said she was "fine". Since he wasn't examining the child then and there he really had no clue as to what her problem could have been. No fever is not an indication that the child is not sick...my daughter is proof of that fact as she would ge pneumonia as a child and her temp would not go above 98.7 (BTW "normal" temps in human can be different, my "norm" is 96.4, my daughter's is 95.8 so if she gets to 100 she DOES have a fever). As the parent of a one time child I was the one living with my daughter and I was witnessing her behavior and when it wasn't "normal" for her I took her to the doctor.

i would take her to the er, i do not want to scare you but a friend of ours had a similiar situation......the little girl was not feeling wel, and had not been for a couple days, she woke up that morning and said her neck was hurting and that her head hurt....so her mom decided to take her in to the docters so she told the little girl to lay on the couch and she would be back, well when she went back the girl was gone. he has a bad form of menengitis......my husband makes vaccines for these kind of things and it is nothing to mess with. i know our docter always checks and askes about neck stiffness and to be sure to let him know if we notice any and call right away when the kids are sick like that.......

I surely have 4 boys and theory I had considered all of it! it is a sparkling one to me, yet i can inform you what i could do. i could initiate charting the incidences. Circle the day on the calendar while it happens and comprise what she's eaten. you're able to additionally want to place in writing down what she did that day, the place she grew to become into and who she performed with. If she hasn't left the homestead, the WHAT she performed with or what part of the homestead or backyard. there's a probability it is not what she's eating yet what she's around ??? stable success!

I would call the doctor back and emphasize the pain in her neck. Its meningitis season and thats not a fun disease to have. The meningitis comes after a cold and doesnt always have a high fever.

I would call the doctors office and "demand" that she be seen. You are her mother and you have that right. If they refuse to see her, find another doc.

Bring her to your doc and have him check her out. She could have a simple cold, but better safe than sorry.
