I have had hypoglycemia for 4 years and I have done ok to manage it. But lately It has been all outta wack. Im really fatigued, I get dizzy and I almost pass out. Glucose tablets dont do anything for me either.
I try to eat frequently, although Im probbly not eating the right things.
Could someone suggest what kind of food would work, so that my sugar levels are more stable. Please dont say candy...it makes it so much worse.
Also I have been tested for diabetes and I dont have it, just a bad case of hypoglycemia.

I too suffer from hypoglycemia. For myself,my savior is peanut butter. If I feel myself getting light headed,I take a spoonful of peanut butter and it relieves the symptoms.I also find that when I eat cereal, for some reason it aggravates the condition. If I eat cereal,no matter what kind,I can count on my sugar dropping a few hours later.
Anything that has a more natural sugar in it works best.A piece of bread, peanut butter, granola bars.
You are right, candy is not a good thing. While it will quickly relieve the symptoms,it will then make your sugar bottom out shortly after.

As you have found out, candy is not the best.

Try to eat 5 small meals a day, also a difficult task for most people. However, one can usually keep snacks handy. These should be a mixture of protein and complex carbohydrates, both of which get broken down over time to slowly release glucose into your system. Protein bars or cheese and whole grain crackers are things that will keep unrefrigerated and help with this problem.

Lastly, be sure your doctor has checked for elevated insulin levels. Not looking for diabetes, but an insulin secreting mass that might be precipitating your symptoms and causing a low blood sugar.

I hope this helps.

I have become accustomed to drinking a lot of juice throughout the day and eating different fruits and granola bars. Jell-O cups, apple sauce, and cookies are also pretty good snacking foods. I know they are not the healthiest foods out there but they help with the dizziness.

Good luck!

One thing you could try is getting a prescription for Diazoxide - it suppresses insulin production.
