I think you should open the chute two seconds before hitting the ground.

Before you hit the ground is good, but after leaving the aircraft count, 1000, 2000, 3000, check canopy, if your main chute does not work (which it should - don't worry), you still have enough time to deploy your reserve chute. If you are doing your first jump, do a tandem jump, with a instructor.

u have to go thru a course and ur instructor will teach u how to do everything properly. they wont let u even go up in the plane unless they feel that u are ready.

usualy the ones for 1st timers is taken ezy the plane dsnt go so high and u kinda open it as soon as u jump...

i think they will probably tell you that if you go on a course type thing, but i find that before you hit the floor is good! :p
