Some people define it that way. Though, it really makes the word meaningless, because people call anything a connection to a "Higher Power". That's because there is no actual "higher power" acknowledging any such connection.

Of course not. People can be spiritual without believing in a higher power

Spirituality, in a broad sense a concern with matters of the spirit, is a wide term with many available readings. It may include belief in supernatural powers, as in religion, but the emphasis is on personal experience.

now that question is almost unexplainable... how do you explain a personal feeling ?
Helen Keller once said ... there are things that cannot be seen with the eyes but felt with the heart
but for me .. yes that is spirituality
that higher power will be different for each person though .. some may see it as a deity , some will see it is higher consciousness

Differentiate between belief, faith and devotion.
Then you realize you were just force fed with discipline. Spirituality means pure independent thinking of all things phenomenal and abstract.

It could very well mean that if your connection is based on devotion and it is something you hold sacred.

Spirituality is simply the state of being spiritual.

So, yes it can be defined that way.
