Another power we all have reguardless of reiigious beliefs is the law of the land ,put in its place by God himself, another reason why the law of the land stands superior in spite of corruption.

It's just another word for it. People link the two when speaking about Spiritual things. If I say I believe in a Higher Power than humans, most people know I'm speaking of a God. I guess you could use Higher Power for anything or anyone you see as Higher than you are....

Sorry, what do you mean by the question? Higher power for what purpose? In the spiritual realm, God is not the only being that is more powerful than humans. There is a war going on between the spiritual forces of good and those of evil, a war between the "higher powers" if you like. God is seeking to rule the universe through love and free will. In the kingdom of God, unselfish love is the rule. God is the kind of king who will stoop to wash his disciples feet and die on an instrument oftorture in order t save the lives of rebelious humans.
God's enemy Satan is seeking to stage a coup and replace his government, by convincing people that God is actually a tyrant. Satan uses force, false propaganda, and deception. His ways are similar to those we see in the kingdoms of this world.
It is a battle for the hearts and minds of the universe. God has given us the choice to take sides. We can be on his side and let him be the higher power in our lives, or we can side with Satan and let Satan be the higher power in our lives.

God is the name that we give to that supreme personality which is all-powerful. The definition of God is that He possesses all riches, all beauty, all strength, all fame, all knowledge and all renunciation. Therefore God is the source of all power. God is not higher power. We may say that He is the ultimate power. There are many powerful persons in this world, but if we analyze their power we will find out that they possess different degrees of power. Some possess lower power, other possess higher power. If we continue this search we will come to that person who possesses the highest power. No one is equal or superior to Him. This person is God.

Because God created heaven and earth and all things! Just because we cannot see God, doesn't mean He isn't there. We are all walking miracles, Yes! the miracle of birth! This is from a seed being planted in our Mothers womb. Then the miracle begins. And some people say there is no God! And if you look around you, there are many more miracles to behold!

because the only thing higher than man would have to be a god. But there is only one God, and his Son came to make you free.

Because "higher power" is nothing more than a colloquial pseudonym (correct word in this situation?) for "god".
