Someone told me that you shouldn't mix proteins and carbs in the same meal because your body produces alkalines to digest carbs and acid to digest proteins. Scientifically, it is true that alkalines neutralize acid, but is it really true that you shouldn't eat protein and carbs in the same meal for health reasons?

To clarify, the suggestion here is not to eat all proteins or eat all carbs, but rather to keep them as a seperate meal. e.g. proteins for dinner, carbs for lunch. The person who suggested it also suggested that eating several meals a day is healthier and recommended, rather than the traditional three. That I know to be true, which makes me skeptical about 'doubting' the truth of this.

When proteins and carbs are eaten together, they just sit in the stomach. They do pass out of the body as quickly as they should. This causes a host of medical problems. This is an amazingly health way to lose weight and increase your energy ten times over. This is not a diet, but a simple, yet effective way to improve your health. Very simple to follow.................

This sounds like the Montignac Method, or food seperation. I have heard both that it's complete bunk and that it works. I have tried it and I think the only thing it does is make you take a really good look at what you're eating and helps you to control portions overall. If you think harder about what you are actually eating, make an effort with the shopping and preparation, then chances are you will eat less and the plan will "work".

Proteins come from meats and vegetables, and carbs come from vegetables such as potato's, breads, milk, cheese, etc... Everyone needs to have a balanced diet so they are wrong for saying you shouldn't mix them both. I don't see how they can say that when a lot of foods have both in them anyway. Such as cheese, and milk. This is why vegetarians can be healthy.

That is untrue.

You will read some diets that employ that technique, but in the end nothing is better than simple "good" eating. Leave the gimmicks aside

This is not proven to be based on fact. It is meant to aid digestion, but I personally do not believe it.
