As for the biting....nip it in the bud now. When she bites yelp loud, just like a hurt pup and immediately stop play for about 5 minutes. Also get her in puppy obedience classes. ANY dog is only as good as the training it receives.

I have a two year old male golden retriever. Yes, she will be the best dog you could ever have. She is like a child right now...teething and curious, so be patient with her! They are very quick to learn. If you have a obedience training class in your area, that would be wonderful for you both. Good Luck with her.

They are supposed to. I have 2 labrador retrievers (1 year old) and the last year has been very trying. I hear the puppy phase lasts up to 1-2 years. They are an investment for sure, have lots of patience.

All good dogs start out as mischieveous puppies. Training, use of the word no (Until she thinks it's her middle name!) and patience will help her turn into a good dog when she grows up.

She's a baby, like a toddler. It's normal, don't worry about it the first year or so she is in baby, toddler, childhood.
Invest in some training, including some training books for yourself. The best way for her to grow up into a good loving dog is proper training for both of you. She is going to be a wonderful dog, but just like children you need to bring her up right. Education is key.
Congratulations on your puppy, as your vet about training classes in your area.

Some Golden's are very hyper...and doesn't even start to settle down until they are at least 2....some never do and others make wonderful pets. It is probably all about the training. You need to make sure you are the alpha in the relationship. Good luck.

your puppy is just being a puppy
you'll have to work at training her to show her what's right and what's wrong and what's good and what's bad Training is not easy but it is very rewarding in the end
Golden retrievers are lovely dogs and always make good pets

Oh yes, she almost certainly will! Expect more playing, biting and being michieveous for the upcoming weeks. She will mature into a happy, active adult. Golden Retrievers are known for being extremely loyal companions and excellent family dogs.

You have to think of your puppy like a child in some ways. Does a child just grow up into a responsible citizen? No, their parents have to teach them values, how to behave, etc.
You're in the same position with your puppy. She doesn't know that biting is wrong, or that is it wrong to chew things, or pee in the house. She has to be taught those things.

golden retrievers are great dogs, but they need a lot of disciplining, and are very active dogs and need to get out and run around at lest 1 hour a day, its Worth it if you can afford some basic training, and he's probable chewing on every thing bacause he will lose his baby teeth soon.
