I know this problem and this simple, safe, natural, low cost solution will definitely and quickly alleviate and possibly eliminate it completely - it did mine. I'm afraid you will get answers giving totally ineffective treatments, some harmful like many anti-dandruff shampoos and others that will aggravate problem - so beware. Dandruff is a disease: Shampoo manufacturers misinform & lead you to think you have it. Look it up and see if you really have. Problem could be just a very dry flaking scalp and skin, like I used to have, sensitive to chemicals, harmful ingredients in many commercial shampoos, soaps, other products. Perms, tints, bleaches, straighteners, tanning booths or sunlamps also harm, scalp and hair cause reactions. Simple remedy - use only a mild tea tree oil shampoo or selenium based shampoo - acts as an anti-fungal agent, with a few drops of tea tree oil added and wash less frequently (look up alternatives to washing). You damage hair and scalp, cause thinning and premature graying by over washing. Shampoo companies love you to believe frequent washing is desirable & instruct you to apply shampoo twice! You may be surprised - but to restore scalp to health you need to frequently brush, 25 to 30 strokes each or every other day, quite vigorously, so you feel it stimulating scalp - will unplug ducts at the site of a hair shaft, reverse damage and heal & force new growth. Apply flaxseed oil or vitamin E oils to the scalp and hair, before or after brushing, and wash off in the morning. Will give hair a healthy sheen. My hair had started to thin - this regime stopped that too. Entire body health, particularly digestive system matters. Avoid fried foods; be careful of excessive intake of fats, dairy products, sugars, chocolate, seafood, and peanuts. Consider a whole foods diet. Increase green leafy vegetables and raw foods. Take nutritional supplements and Vitamins. Biotin is a B vitamin, helps break down fats, carbohydrates, and proteins. Found naturally in many foods or can supplement. Food sources of biotin include brewer's yeast, nutritional yeast, whole grains, nuts, Other helpful supplements -Vitamin B complex, especially vitamin B1 and B2 Vitamin A, Omega fatty acids, especially omega-6. This should alleviate wax problem also. Lastly, often overlooked, get plenty of sun - a natural source of vitamins will also revitalize hair and scalp. I can be emailed - see profile.

Have you been to a Dermatologist (skin specialist) as it may not be dandruff it may be a sin condition like dermatitis.

Head and Shoulders was the only thing that worked for me but I have to use is every 2 days without fail and it didnt start working for about 3 weeks. Have you tried any of the shampoos on the market for that long without fail?

Try Selson Blue Medicated. The trick is that you need to let it stay on your scalp for 10 minutes befroe rinsing. If you apply it , then immediately rinse it off you are not allowing the medication to work properly. If this does not help, see a doctor and they can give you a rescription for something stronger.

Try the shampoo Selsun Blue. Use it daily! See a dermatoligist if it doesn't clear up within a couple of weeks.

Try changing shampoos. I try a new brand everytime I run out and it keeps my scalp from drying out.

Try listerine. You know dandruff is caused by bacteria.

it can be psoriasis too...any itchiness?? but better try antidandruff shampoo like selsun-blue...traditionally...put some yogurt with live culture onto your scalp....or you can try wash it with cider (if it's painful, skip this one)
