All sorts of nasty rot sets in. When Major Reno's detatchment arrived at the Little Big Horn the day after Custer and his troops were massacred, what he found were naked bodies turned black and bloated up like balloons in the heat by gasses building up inside, and the high-pitched squeal as these gasses blew out under pressure through arrow-holes. It would have been rather like a high school band tuning up.

You do not want to be around after you are dead, trust me. Better to stay in hogan where it is safe.

normally they are transported to the city morgue so that the pathologist can do an autopsy to determine the cause of death and rule out any foul play, if all clear they issue a death certificate and the family can go ahead with the funeral arrangements, either by burial or by cremation. once that's done the family normally have a wake in which family and friends say good things about the deceased, then everyone goes home and that's it. now if you mean the other way- like spiritually - well who can tell- best ask a dead person because they are best qualified to answer that question and i think you may well have a verrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrry long wait, so put on the kettle, make a good strong pot of tea and brace yourself for eternity or your own death.

1. "Know thou of a truth that the soul, after its separation from the body, will continue to progress until it attaineth the presence of God, in a state and condition which neither the revolution of ages and centuries, nor the changes and chances of this world, can alter. It will endure as long as the Kingdom of God, His sovereignty, His dominion and power will endure. It will manifest the signs of God and His attributes, and will reveal His loving kindness and bounty."

2. "As to the question whether the souls will recognize each other in the spiritual world: this fact is certain; for the Kingdom is the world of vision where all the concealed realities will become disclosed. How much more the well-known souls will become manifest. The mysteries of which man is heedless in this earthly world, those he will discover in the heavenly world, and there will he be informed of the secret of truth; how much more will he recognize or discover persons with whom he hath been associated. Undoubtedly, the holy souls who find a pure eye and are favored with insight will, in the kingdom of lights, be acquainted with all mysteries, and will seek the bounty of witnessing the reality of every great soul. Even they will manifestly behold the Beauty of God in that world."

3. "... a love that one may have entertained for any one will not be forgotten in the world of the Kingdom. Likewise, thou wilt not forget (there) the life that thou hast had in the material world."

I am too searching for the answer since long............ researchers are trying to find out what happens after death(near death experience). I think we all go to god. If we pray to god and do all the good deeds at least try not to hurt anybody, when we are alive, god gives us freedom from human birth and we achieve 'moksha'.

the human form as in the body stops functioning and will be cremated or burried as per the person's religious beliefs..

as for the soul if any thing like it exists depeds on what you would like to belive as no one can recolect or know what happens after death..
the important thing is to live life to the fullest...
a thought i like to belive in is that after death you are explained ur purpose on earht.. and an explanation of why what happened to you actually happened..giving u peace forever..

Thank you for asking such a question. This is one of the important questions a human being should ask. Human life is very rarely achieved after a transmigration of the soul through 8 400 000 species of life throughout the universe. We should inquire about who we are and why we are subject to the miseries of life such as birth, death, old age and disease. This is human intelligence.
I am sure you have heard of Bhagavad Gita. All Indians should be well acquainted with this great book of knowledge.
There Lord Shri Krishna, the Supreme Personality of Godhead (Bhagavan) very clearly explains on several occasions what happens to the eternal soul after the demise of the present body.
Here are some verses which indicate the answer to your question.

“As the embodied soul continuously passes, in this body, from boyhood to youth to old age, the soul similarly passes into another body at death. A sober person is not bewildered by such a change.” (BG 2.13)

“As a person puts on new garments, giving up old ones, the soul similarly accepts new material bodies, giving up the old and useless ones.” (BG 2.22)

“One who has taken his birth is sure to die, and after death one is sure to take birth again. Therefore, in the unavoidable discharge of your duty, you should not lament.”
(BG 2.27)

“Whatever state of being one remembers when he quits his body, O son of Kuntī, that state he will attain without fail.” (BG 8.6)

“And whoever, at the end of his life, quits his body, remembering Me alone, at once attains My nature. Of this there is no doubt.” (BG 8.5)

“One who knows the transcendental nature of My appearance and activities does not, upon leaving the body, take his birth again in this material world, but attains My eternal abode, O Arjuna.” (BG 4.9)

“After attaining Me, the great souls, who are yogīs in devotion, never return to this temporary world, which is full of miseries, because they have attained the highest perfection.” (BG 8.15)

Now we should make our life sublime as per the instructions of Lord Krishna and never again take birth in this material world which is temporary and full of suffering.

The bodied deteriorates. The soul and spirit are in a "holding place". When the final judgment comes we will receive a new body which will be reunited with the soul and spirit.
