I will be travelling to Thailand in Feb and want a nice romantic place to take my girlfriend. Not too quiet or too busy. We stayed in really nice bungalowson the beach last year on the East coast so something similar would be great.

Cheers

Koh Lanta, absolutely. Take the boat from Krabi or Phuket, or minibus. Ive done many islands in Thailand, and I keep coming back to Lanta, its a great spot. Stunning sunsets, PhiPhi just off the coast, all the good spots like ko mook and james bond island very close by. Forget Phuket, not romantic at all.

Phuket is nice, but it's a bit expensive. Ko Samui is nice too. But both of them are far down south (you need to take a flight from Bangkok).

Hua Hin, Cha-Am and Rayong are very nice beaches just a couple of hours by car or bus from Bangkok. Pattaya is very popular among tourists (about an hour by car or bus from Bangkok), but is mostly crowded and the water not quite clean.
