Yes but make sure you get one with removable plates cos they are a bugger to clean!

Toasted cheese sandwiches are great, especially if you let some of the cheese ooze over the sides of the bread and start to cook a bit.

My kids love toasted tuna, I think it's revolting.
I would not buy one of those sandwich toaster thingies though. The bread often sticks and it's hard to clean.

It's much easier to just stick the sandwich in a pan or on a griddle and turn it when it's the perfect shade of brown.

Yes, they make every sandwich better, except a Thanksgiving Turkey sandwich, I love those on untoasted white bread with Miracle Whip-Yum! Get the sandwich presser kind. The kind that turns the sandwich into 2 triangles.

And they are hard to clean so a removable plate would be a wise investment. That's the only reason I don't use it as much.

We have a snack sandwich press and my 6 year old son loves cheese and tomatoe sandwiches toasted. There are a trillion combinations so dont be scared to experiment and also go to sandwich takeaway shops and look at their menue. You might get some ideas.

Yes - and great for using up bread that isnt fresh. I love cheese and ham ones. Just make sure you oil the plates before you put your sandwich in so that it doesnt stick. Dont use metal implements and if you can, get one with removable plates for cleaning. Keep the filling to the centre of the sandwich - less chance of it spilling over and making a real mess.

Going to have a toastie for lunch now - mmmmm!

Personally, I loved mine. It was simple to use, and instead of just doing sandwiches, you could actually make mini desserts with it as well. You just had to remember to spray it with nonstick cooking spray first, or else it was the dickens to clean. I used it when I was running behind schedule to make a hot meal, or to make lunch for the kids. All it took was some lunchmeat or veggies, some cheese and a couple slices of bread and it was ready in minutes. I also would put pie filling in the bread and make little mini pies. It worked great that way. In fact, it worked so well that I introduced my stepmom to using it. She loved it so well that she stole mine from me. Yes a skillet would give you similar results. However, I tend to get side tracked alot, and I'd forget about what was cooking in the skillet until one side was charcoal. With the sandwich maker, it did both sides at once so I didnt have to worry about trying to keep an eye on it, and some of them do come with timers so you know when to remove it. When you are stressed, or trying to concentrate on several things at once, sometimes its best to have a gadget that will give you one less thing to focus on.

Do you mean one of sandwich pressers? I would not bother with them..they are one use tools and you can toast a sandwich in a toaster oven just the same.

Toasted Sandwiches surpass the plain old sandwich by miles!!

And growing up in a poorish family in regional Australia we learnt that they can make a decent dessert...

Try tosating a sanwich filled slices of apples, a tsp of sugr and a touch of cinamon. It's yummy!

Yes great, but not so fashionable now as a few years ago!
Tips:
Get the thing really hot before you use it. Red light should go out.
Cheese based stuff is best.
Butter sandwich on the outside. Yes, messy isn't it?

Good luck and forget the diet.

Tuna red onion and cheese is lovely!! but u have to be-careful, because if you scratch the plates it will all stick. I have got one of those George Forman for man grills and u can puts sandwich's in that as well. Normally sandwich makers are cut in to to big triangles do it is easier to cut once cooked but in the other forman grill u can lay it out and it wont swish up and u can also cook all other foods in there to!!

You haven't had enough experience in life to imagine if a toasted sandwich is nice?
