This sounds awful, but as a single lady living alone I often encounter problems like this so I just take the bag of frozen whatever, throw them on the floor , in the bag , three or four times til the amount I need separates.

If you have a good knife you can separate them too, then pour hot water over the separated fillets in the sink and they'll eventually defrost enough to separate.

I was going to suggest a hammer and chisel but someone beat me to it.

If you use a knife make sure it's a thick, strong bladed one, as frozen food is likely to damage them, and it might help to dip the blade in boiling water and suggest running chicken under cold or warm water. When separated, put back into freezer straight away, with greaseproof paper to keep the separate.

The best way to freeze them in the first place is to 'open freeze' by laying them greaseproof paper on a tray or any flat container. Once frozen put the into a bag or suitable container.

I always buy large packs of fresh meat and separate before freezing, and reuse the trays and containers they came in (the trays that chicken thighs or drumsticks come in are very handy for this).

You should have wrapped them separately before putting them in the freezer - that way they won't stick together. Best thing you can do is drop them on the floor & they'll come apart!!!

Invite some friends arround for dinner and cook the lot, you may start a trend for turnes cooking a once per week dinner.
Start again with more chicken and individually wrap them this time.

please don't use a sharp knife to separate them - i have the scars to prove why this is a bad idea!

if you partly defrost them to separate - do not re-freeze any, this is dangerous for the safety of the food, just use them all in the next couple of days.

as others said, freeze them sparately.

Spray them with soda water. I was told this tip years ago. There is something in the soda water that disolves the ice. OK if you have a soda siphon....

Run cold water around the ones that you want, until they become easy enough to break apart.
