I used to raise chows and most weren't as big as you are describing. They make really good dogs. It would be very good to take him to an obedience class. Also, they tend to fight other males when they get a bit older. Do you have kids? You should socialize him to children. I didn't have kids when I had my chows and they did not like kids. But I know that if they can be socialized to kids. Good luck with your big guy.

It sounds like he is too big for a standard chow, but he could be a large. Are you sure he's 3 months??? Can you show pics? A chow is normally around hip size on a 5"4' person. Are you particularly short at all?

Maybe he's not a full-bred Chow Chow. But mixed with another large size breed. Just becase you hold registration papers, doesn't mean that the dog is a perfect specemin of the breed. Or maybe he is a pure bred Chow Chow, and just a quirk in his pedigree and is not a good representative of the breed, likely the result of irresponsible breeders, or just a gene that often pops up and makes one pup not the standard of the breed, and another a champion.

We have no idea how tall you are, so we can't have any idea how big your Chow is.
The "lion dog" is not a small breed. Purebred male Chows are 17-20 inches at the withers.

Chow Chows are naturally big. Don't worry about it. Just because shes bigger though doesn't mean she needs to get overfed or given leftovers, giving leftovers can cause diabetes.
