We are about to start doing up a room for our toddler to go in to (she is is the nursery small room and another is on its way!). Does anyone have any suggestions how I can decorate it? I don't want to go too girly as it will still be used if we have guests but I don't want yellow either. I am, therefore, stumped. Help!

There is paint now that is magnetized, you could do a part of the wall where she could play with magnets. Also there is chalkboard paint, that would be fun for her to draw on. Go to local paint store and find out more, or just look on the web.

I think it's ok to have some Girly elements b/c if guest stay with you they'll understand that it's her room...
I would do maybe a fairy theme? I would paint the ceiling as if it were a sky, blue with sponged white clouds and maybe the walls in a nice green... like if you were outside? Then I would buy or make stencils of fairys and draw them in certain areas. You can hang a quilt that has the same colors so it doesn't look to adult.
If you don't like this idea, potterybarn has some great ideas :) Good Luck

You could do it in Winnie the Pooh or Blue Jean Bear. Blue Jean Bear has the boy designs and girl designs along with ones with both boys and girls thats what we did for my daughter and still worked perfectly when we had our son. I never liked the yellows or greens so I wanted away from that so we went with a nuetral blue pattern

why dont you paint it all the walls a nice cream colour and she could have light pink bedding, curtains, rug and accesories that way the room will stay light and you will still be able to use it as a guest room hope this helps

do it in a theme that she likes. perhaps the beach. or the jungle. even a fairy tale doesnt have to be all pink. you could have blue sky and green grass and a silvery grey castle. most importantly, involve her in it! it's her room!
