she has no idea on what to look for when picking out color, she chose a platinum golden blonde with peroxide, and I did her hair, and she was disapointed because it was too light... anyways... what is a good color to go for?

she does want to stay in the lighter shades, she might try one of the semi-permanent hair colors, that wash out in 20 or so shampoos,,,, the blonde range should be good, the problem is ,,,,,,, its hard to darken white hair,,,, then later when you do the roots, they will tend to be lighter then the already covered areas,,,,,,, i suggest using something in the 9 (for loreal) or so coding range, like a medium blonde, medium golden etc, when doing touch up, make sure to apply only to the roots first, leave on about 20 minutes, then comb threw the rest of the hair, leave for about15 more minutes,,,,,, use longer times then the basic time listed on the color instructions,,,,, the "wash out" colorings will not totally wash out,,,,, and prevents difficulties with root problems,,, near the roots absorbing too much color etc,,,

Ok, the platinum is way too light with a woman who has very pale skin. You need to warm up the color a bit. What I would do is start by looking at some old pictures of her before her hair went completely grey if you can. That way, you can gauge what tone you need to recolor it. Otherwise, I would try maybe a light golden blonde color. Don't go ash, because the green tone will make her look ghoulish. Also, keep in mind that if you just processed the hair, you will need to wait at least 4 weeks before processing again to avoid any damage to the hair and/or scalp. If you must color again immediately, use one of those 28 day colors that are less harsh. Natural Instincts by Clairol has some nice shades in the blonde family. You may want to try either #2 or #4 if I remember my shades correctly. Make sure it has some sort of "gold" in it.

Try an Golden brown, or light brown, because her natural hair color is going to make it 2 shades lighter than the color on the box, even though you have already used a platinum. Lorelle Color stay works very well on hard to color hair.

don't use a light brown or any kind of brown. it would be too dark. she needs a champagne blone which is a beige/blond. we use a light neutral blonde and add a couple of DROPS of dark brown.<4 at the most for depth......so the color doesn't look one color and flat. you will see more highlights>
She will be very pleased.

no you need a color for Grey white hair you are depositing color so use a natural base and try a level 8 sometimes you have to use 10 vol to get it to stick. It's easy to deposit over as long as you don't get too dark to start.

hi

My gran just turned 80 and she has white hair that looks gorgeous(natural)... this 76year old should either be natural or fake... if she is 76 she should act her age not like a youngster..but if she is set on looking fake tell her to try something close to her age like a grey or a gold... something that will make her look natural.

You might try a light ash brown... definitely don't go too dark, won't look good, and red tones look cheap and phony for that age group.
