I think it is a totally pathetic he as an officer is meant to lead men and his childish stand against the political reasons shows he is not officer material .. court martial him and boot the coward out .. my hubby is in iraq till june and he did not want to go and leave us for 7 months .. it is his job he took the oath and signed on the dotted line .The man does not deserve the rank of an officer and certainally doesnt belong in the military

He's already been to Iraq so he is not a coward and he volunteered to go again.
He has, however, seen the truth behind the lies. He has realised that the US is fighting an imperialist war and not a war to defend US shores, and constitutional right but merely to defend economic interests. The war started because Saddam began selling his oil in Euros which made it more expensive for the US. That oil is now being traded in Dollars again. Iran has now started trading oil in Euros and hey presto a CIA officer has today stated that he expects Iran to be attacked by Israel backed backed by US and British air power within 2 years. Venezuela has also mulled over selling its oil in Euros and we can only wait and see what action the US takes there.

Well congress voted for the war and the President as commander and chief lawfully directs him to go.
If he refuses to go I'd say give him a white feather and stand him against the wall like they used to do to cowards in the old army.

Why should he have a "duty" to go. Wasn't the war started with a lie by his own President? He's no coward. Just standing up for his own human rights. I say this because I don't believe in war, Our governing people should sit down and discuss and discuss more and then some more until all sides are understanding.

I think he's doing what he feels is correct and is willing to pay the price. Coward? I have no idea, I'm sure many of the hot shots here will say yes (99% have not will not serve in the military).

He's standing for what he believes is right. He may have to endure the consequences for that choice.
Do I think he's right? I'm not the one who enlisted, he did.
I questioned this war from the beginning. The twin towers were attacked by Shiite muslims from Saudi Arabia. The appropriate response would have been to bomb Mecca, not to attack the ENEMY OF SHIITE MUSLIMS (Saddam Hussein).
The war in Iraq isn't wrong, it's STUPID ! ! Saddam was evil, but our enemy is radical Islam ! What the heck are we doing in Iraq?
We should be in Darfur.

It is hard to call him a coward without knowing his mind. He could be objecting to go for political reasons which are genuine, or an attempt to hide his fear of going. I think he may be genuine, to face a court marshall and all that goes with it is a brave thing to do as well.

I think he should be court martialed, given a dishonorable discharge, 5 - 10 years in prison, forfeit all pay and allowances.

Sure he does. What right(or duty, as you call it) does your husband have to slaughter innocent civilians in a foreign land with the sole intention of a) Promoting Bush's retirement plan, and b) getting a free education? When your husband signed up to military service there was nothing in his oath about making sure GwB retired fat. There was an oath to protect and defend the United States from enemies both foreign and domestic... that includes enemies such as GwB. If your husband was answering a call of duty, the women and children of Iraq is not who he'd have in his sights. Quit hiding behind bs politics to excuse your husbands cowardess.
The one man that did answer the call of duty by refusing unjust duty is getting court martialed... are you surprised. Now that takes the kind of courage that America just won't stand for.

I don't care what his beliefs are. But if he's refusing to perform his duties he's a traitor.
These types were executed during WWII. Worked for FDR; works for me.
