Or can you suggest a breed that would get on with a shih tzu as im looking for a new addition to the family. Have always loved bulldogs.

It isn't so much the breed that will determine whether or not the dogs will get along, but the way that they've been raised. If your dogs are socialised and well behaved, it should be fine - especially since both shih tzus and bulldogs tend to be overwhelmingly friendly dogs anyway!

Both dogs are usually pretty easy going and get along well with other dogs. And Bubba said it right..as long as the tzu has been well socialized and treated well, they should get along quite well. The rescue where I got my tzus, also had a English Bull dog and a Shih-Tzu that were raised together. The rescue would not adopt out one without the other.

I have shih tzus and french bulldogs and they are so sweet and get a long great, the frenchie even sleeps with them. I love bulldogs I would think it would be fine to get a bulldog.

I know the shih tzu would even get along with a cat.. they are very friendly

It's NOT "british" OR "english"! JUST Bulldog!
Any dog can "get along" w/ANY other ...IF you *MAKE* them!
NO dog wants competition.
