Ali in my opinion took the dirt out of Boxing.I say that through his active participation. He cleaned boxing up.Not only the Heavyweight but also middleweight and welterweight.I guess those of us who saw him box should consider us privledged because I do not see another one on the horizon

Ali had charisma and personality to go along with his tremendous boxing skills. Even people that didn't like him would watch him to see if he would get beat. He had that great sense of humor and who could ever forget his interviews with Howard Cosell? Also the interest in boxing was far greater as a lot of boxing matches were being watched by millions of not only Ali but other fighters such as Monzon, Duran, Frazier, and the public had knowledge of what was going on more then than today. The heavyweight division was probably the strongest it has ever been in the 70's and Ali of course was the main reason so a lot of credit goes to him. He was his own greatest promoter and in turn promoted the sport of boxing.

I certainly agree...It had potential in the early to mid 90's with Mike Tyson (before he went crazy), Riddick Bowe, Michael Moorer, Lennox Lewis, Oliver McCall, Evander Holyfield, David Tua, Michael Grant, and Tommy Morrison....but...
Tyson went to Jail and got suspended,
Bowe quit and went to the Army
Moorer got upset by Foreman and was never the same
when McCall got beat by Lewis he was never the same (he was actually crying in the ring...how embarassing)
Michael Grant was just potential,
David Tua was just a one punch wonder
Tommy Morrison got aids
and the Heavyweight division was just reduced to Lewis and Holyfield...

But to the credit of the Ali Era you had guys like Frazier, Foreman, guys who helped carry the heavyweight division...

I think boxing was amazing in the 80s, including the heavyweight division (Tyson). Hearns, Hagler, Pryor, Camacho, Duran, Leonard, Chavez..... I liked it better in the 80s than I did in the 70s, and I was a big fan then too. So I disagree.

ya, well i also found it funny in the Ali vs Frazier match where Ali wouldn't hit crap and Frazier just laughed at him. I dont know how he cleaned up boxing, he trash talked like the first couple rounds in most matches. He was very good dont get me wrong i just think theres better people out there.
