No, I cannot tell you that it is necessary to have a boyfriend because relationships don't work that way. They either happen or they don't. When people have relationships just for the sake of having one or because they're afraid to be alone, those relationships are HORRIBLE.

I will answer your question systematically.
I guess it depends on the girl, if she wants someone to dig in her. It also depends on your taste of having a bf. Now, girl is changing (or swapping to another bf) her bf like she is changing her cloths depending on the occasion. If it's late night party, she wants experienced bf and if it's for lunch or dinner, she wants the bf with his pocket full of money. Mostly, girl wants the bf to stand in line of her other friends. Not necessary that he should be handsome, but mandatory that he has a lot of money. So, in conclusion, girl wants the bf for the above 2 reason (1st which is in the beginning and the 2nd just above this).
