Once you have registered the birth, or applied for a copy of an existing birth certificate I think it took about 2 weeks for ours to come.

If you are talking about a newborn child, it depends on what state the child was born in. In Florida, the birth certificate but be registered within 5 days of the birth. I would say wait about 3 weeks from the child's birth, and then apply for one from your local Vital Records office. It should take about 2 weeks to arrive in the mail.

Kristina, that all depends on where you are. If you are referring to a duplicate of a birth certificate, you can go to the Registry Office where the individual was born and get a duplicate from the Registrar. I last had to do this about five years ago, and it costs me around £10. If you are in the UK, look for your local authority on the Web and they should have a birth/marriages/deaths or Registrar's Office section. Call them up and they should be able to tell you the current procedure. Peace.

We live in Indiana now. My kids were born in Ohio. After the move years ago, something happened to one of my kids certificates. And I had to send away for a new one. The first time, they lost all of my info I gave them. I had to go to the social security office here for them to send the stuff. So I had to go back with all the info again and then it took about 4 weeks to get one in the mail.

First it depends on if your in the state that the persons birth cirtificate you are wanting to get. Example I got mine and I was born in Illinois not the state I am living in now. I had to call ViTAL RECORDS in Illinois and send them a copy of my drivers lisence and some info like my parents name etc.. and once my check (I THINK IT WAS LIKE 7 BUCKS) cleared they sent it. I think I had it within 2 weeks. EXAMPLE 2... I had to get copies of a family member that was born here where I live. All I had to do is go to the health department and paid 7 bucks and needed some proof that I was related(CALL FIRST THEY LET YOU KNOW WHAT YOU NEED ) and they printed it up . I was in and out in like 10 minuts
