But it's considered okay to call a thin person skinny or anorexic.Don't they feel insulted as well? For the record,I fall into neither category.

I'm not offended when people call me fat. I'm not an idiot, I know it's true. Why get mad when someone points out the obvious? I do, however, find them a bit slow, for pointing out what EVERYONE can already see.

Well, this issue gets to me quite directly, because I used to be fat. I had gastric bypass about a year and a half ago, and even though I still have a few pounds to lose, people no longer look at me as a monster (or at least I don't feel like one anymore) but I have to tell you, those words hurt a lot. My therapist told me, it is because they tell you things that are true but you don't want to admit, it's like someone is taking the place of your inner voice, you know? and no one is more hurting and cruel than your own voice. I can testify of that.

Now, someone said something very real, fat people are not fat because we want to, but because several reasons take us to this situation. Now, why is it ofensive to call someone 'fat' and not 'anorexic'? I think it's because society 'adds' lots of concepts to a fat person (unclean, smelly, sweaty, no self love, etc, which are clearly unpleasant) whereas an 'anorexic' or 'skinny' has different 'extra' concepts ('poor thing, she/he must be depressed, has problems, has no money, etc) which makes people want to help and support that 'skinny/anorexic' and despise the fat one.

That's my humble opinion, from my own personal experience. :)

Neither is okay if used in a derrogatory sense. However the word 'skinny' is often seen as a compliment. 'Fat' is never seen as a compliment. And calling someone Anorexic purely because they happen to be underweight is just plain ignorance. HTH : )

It is insulting because "fat" is a vague word and has a wide range of application from material to non-living things. Skinny, however, is a word strictly created for humans.

Heh. i comprehend what you advise. i'm getting the "you're short" element lots. My reaction is often, "Naw! truly? i did not be conscious." (i'm 4'11) all of us is merely so stupid and unoriginal without even determining. i assume this is the only reason i will arise with. additionally, i think of human beings wanna the two factor out issues they think of you would be self unsleeping approximately or that they are themselves. you merely could forget approximately those human beings because of the fact lame excuses get you nowhere. (stable ones nonetheless... xD) yet yeah, pass with the sarcasm attitude. It confuses idiots. =P

Feel free to call anyone anything you desire. Just don't be shocked when people are offended by your remarks.

I agree with the people who say they already know it. I'm black, but if someone came up to me and said I was black that would be dumb.

Fat people don't want to be fat. It's not rocket-*******-science.
