People get defensive because all Muslims are grouped together and labeled as bad. Also, the Qur'an is like the Bible in the sense that it can be interpreted in many ways, and often is mis interpreted by many. Instead of being patient, open minded and tolerant of others and their beliefs, some (many) people make ignorant and hateful comments about a religion they know nothing about. I don't blame them completely. The media has done an amazing job of misinforming and scaring the masses.

Is telling the world the Truth about islam being defensive, I thought it was warning the people to stay away from it, & since you think we are defensive, then islam must be offensive.

Probably because they're constantly being related to terrorists by the modern media. I'm the same way, though to a much lesser extent, when it comes to being a video gamer. I'm generally laid back, but when people start trashing video games, a hobby I've pursued for almost 15 years now with no incident, I get riled up.
I can only imagine what it'd be like if I was suddenly considered the biggest enemy of the free world for my beliefs. If I were them, I'd be pretty defensive too.

wont you be too, when you arent allowed into a country, just because of your appearance or because of your faith? i guess everyone will be defensive if they are branded terrorists by the whole world, even though they might not have done anything at all?everyone from the pope to the people on Y! Answers are simply bad-mouthing our religion without any evidence at all to back thm up....i wonder how u'd react.....(no offence meant to anybody)

because people are afraid that they wil be punished for al their doings,and if everyone follows islam they are left alone in the oisis.
so they stand against it...so that islam isnt powerful enough to break up their party;but the fools dont understand that ISLAM is always powerful with or without them.
