I diet and exersise every day for 1 hour and 20 minutes at the gym i weigh 68kg and had a baby 7 months ago i was 86 after having my daughter and have managed to loose alot but now feel its stopped my babies father is a boxer and has suggested the fat may be turning to muscle and muscle weighs more than fat that is why the scales are not moving but i just think if i have a set limit of calories i need to burn every workout i can push myself to do it as i am unsure of what iy should be.

The boxer is right. If you are working out that much, you are probably building muscle at a fantastic rate. Good for you! I suggest you invest in a heart rate monitor so that you can target your cardio workouts to work for you. If you are doing cardio well above your target heart rate, you're not getting the full benefit of your workout. A monitor can also tell you how many calories you have burned after a workout.

If I worked out for 80 minutes using the cross trainer then I'd probably burn 650-700 calories, which is a bit too much to burn I think during a workout.

You feel like a failure because you're not realizing that it's not about working out today, or eating 1500 calories, it's about the consistancy of doing it every day or at least every other day. As humans, we want instant gratification and black and white answers. What you're doing will work, and you're doing a great job at it, you just have to stick with it.

Depending on weight, fitness, intensity of your workout and age your looking at 500-800 calories for cardio. (running, cycling etc)

Your current weight
The level of intensity of your work out
And what exercise your work out consisted of.
