Adultery
Adultery in Islam is a great sin punishable by stoning and sin. But a Muslim can commit adultery with his maid or a married woman if he invades her town and captures her in the war.
[al-Mu'minun 23:1-7] The believers must (eventually) win through,-2] Those who humble themselves in their prayers; 3] Who avoid vain talk; 4] Who are active in deeds of charity; 5] Who abstain from sex, 6] Except with those joined to them in the marriage bond, or (the captives) whom their right hands possess,- for (in their case) they are free from blame, :7] But those whose desires exceed those limits are transgressors;-
[Al Nisa 4:24] “And all married women (are forbidden unto you) save those (captives) whom your right hands possess.”

I KNOW ....
The verse indicates that :
War female captives BECOME like married women to Muslim warriors , for those who have LOST their husbands during the war ...and this is mainly to protect them...
At that time in the desert 1400 years ago a woman could not possibly go out for work, so this was stated in order to guarantee these women are PROTECTED they get a home a husband and source of income and food .. so I think -practically - it is in the sake of these women not vice versa

I don't feel that is the idea behind that statement.
The idea is to restrict "illicit sex"; but those who are too much greedy to have sex, unrestrictedly, for them there are restrictions.
For example, when a Muslim invades another country and kills the husband of a women and captures her; if he likes he may take charge of her maintenance and is permitted to engage in sex with her. It does not mean that he may just engage in sex and leave her to live on her own. He should take responsiblity of the maintenance of her & her family.

Doesn't he have to marry her. I recall citations against adultery somewhere in the Quran, but a man can many up to 4 wives in time of war or if he can afford it. That's polygamy, not adultery.

No, Adultery is strictly forbidden. Punishable by death for those who are married, and fornication by 100 lashings for those who are unmarried.
[004:024] Also (forbidden are) women already married, except those (slaves) whom your right hands possess. Thus has God ordained for you. All others are lawful, provided you seek (them in marriage) with Mahr (bridal-money given by the husband to his wife at the time of marriage) from your property, desiring chastity, not committing illegal sexual intercourse, so with those of whom you have enjoyed sexual relations, give them their Mahr as prescribed; but if after a Mahr is prescribed, you agree mutually (to give more), there is no sin on you. Surely, God is Ever All-Knowing, All-Wise.
There used to be slaves but now their isn't, so only your wife whom you married to can you have sexual relations with.
And God knows best
Peace Be with You

it's God who put the rules not humans. and Abraham had Ishmeal from another woman.
and at that time muslim women were also taking as captives and done the same thing to them, however in Islam there are restrict rules regarding this. but today, all countries muslims and non-muslims signed contract against this.

Let's go town invading and capturing then....
OK, ancient middle eastern tales and legends are interesting works of fiction. It is futile to use them the way you do. They were written to entertain, not to promote or demote anything.

In the same vein as duffman - and I'm an ex-Muslim, an apostate (punishable by death under sharia, right?) - you really need to shut the hell up.
