For instance do the speakers of any 10 year old boom box, deliver the same quality as they did when they were new? Or does the quality reduce with age and usage?

The speakers flex around the outer rim and some use flexible plastic, silicone, or rubber. Those can degrade over time and get holes in the flexible stuff or possibly stiffen up. Either way, they would sound differently.

But, most boom boxes aren't the most accurate sound reproducing systems, so if there are no holes in the speakers, you might not be able to hear a problem with stiffened speakers. Other components also change over time, especially capacitors, and they can affect the sound more than the speaker problems I mentioned.

I have heard that, but I have some vintage BIC stereo speakers that are now 30 years old and still sound very good. I don't listen for hours every day.
