Ebay,lots on there many varied colours,the white ones look really pretty,read through some show pics of lights being used at weddings etc,batttery powered ones as well.

The wedding dept. in most large craft stores carry battery operated led lights.Your idea sounds lovely, but have you considered what you are going to do with the battery pack? Perhaps you could use the tall vases, but illuminate them around the base of the vase. Maybe a small wreath of greens with "baby's breath" and the small lights intertwined in the wreath. The battery pack would be hidden by the greens.
