most small dogs will bark and alert you. no worries there. as for a good dog. any dog you research the breed or mixture of and take the time to learn the characteristics and prepare for proper vet care, feeding a premium diet, plan for plenty of exercise, crate train to help with housebreaking, and take to a training class will be a great dog as long as you are consistant with the dog and loving.

If this is a deliberate mix then probably not. No responsible breeder would deliberate mate these 2 breeds, so the chances are you would end up with a dog with a lot of health problems. I cannot think of a single advantage you would get from mixing these 2 breeds, you may get a combination of problems from both breeds. Far better to decide which breed - do plenty of research - you want & buy a puppy from a reputable breeder. If you don't want a purebred, go to an animal rescue instead.

It's not a breed, it's a mutt. But there are plenty of mutts in shelters, try looking there. It may or may not be a "small Pug". It may look exactly like a Chihuahua, with no Pug visable. Or vice-versa. It may be a large Chihuahua, or something else. It's hard to tell with mutts.

I have a chug and so far he's pretty awesome. Excellent with the children. A bit protective of them but also when they poke and try and sit on him he does not try to nip back. He just walks away as though they are weird.
My dog is very quiet like a Pug, but he can jump and do hoppity tricks like a chihuahua. He loves to sit in the sun and likes outside if he can. If he could he would just sit in your lap. Very trainable. I have my dog trained to only go into certain areas I the house and rings a bell when he wants to go outside.
Sheds like crazy. Really excellent with babies. Will even let me know if they had a accident or if getting into something. Only slightly freaks out with lightning and new people. Warms up after a few minutes, just protective.

They look morre like a pug from the ones I have seen. It is impossible to predict the temperament of a mixed breed dog/mutt.

Get a shih-tzu, they are a lovely breed, and were used by chinese emporers because of their great hearing, my shih tzu is very alert and will alert you before anyone even comes close to the house. They may not be able to protect you from intruders but will certainly let you know that they are there!

pugs are lap dogs, if they grow up alone, they get territorial. chis are very territorial and have a big attitude. i think its a very interest combination, but if you want him/her to be social, you need to get a companion.

NO,they're just POS MUTT/MONGRELS!!!
Temperament is different from ***TRAINED BEHAVIOR***!!!
ANY/EVERY dog should be TRAINED to be CIVILIZED!
ANY dog can let you know when the burgler is breaking in!
