It's a joke that 'surrealists' appreciate. they are usually very well educated (usually the highest grades at school etc) yet find odd jokes funny. it must be something to do with how their brain is wired cause to all us 'average' folk - it's just not funny.
My Dad used to say:
Q. Why is a mouse when it spins?
A. A Fish!
and then just kill himself laughing. I think maybe they do it to see if anyone else is silly enough to laugh along with them.
