I was wondering.......they say you can take a pregnancy test fromt he day your period is due and the result shold be fairly accurate. But they also say you can get pregnant ANYTIME, even 4 or 5 days BEFORE your period. So if it is 4 or 5 days before your period, and you DO get pregnant, so you still bleed? An if you don't bleed, isn't it too soon (like less than a week after conception) for the pregnancy hormone to show up??
Please help this is really puzzling me. Thanks.

PLEASE DON'T IGNORE THIS ANSWER BECAUSE I HATE POSTING IN THE WRONG CATAGORY TO PROVIDE IT!!!!!
The short answer is it takes about 2 weeks for the HgC to build up in your system enough to be detectable by the most sensitive HPTs. Yes, you can have a period even though you are pregnant and it is quite common to, as well as to have one every month throughout your pregnancy. If this happens, you should ALWAYS see your doc!

The long answer, and one all women should know is available at the link I have inculded.
Good luck, HTH

You CAN get pregnant anytime! You are more likely to get pregnant the 2 weeks before you're scheduled to start your period. The pregnancy tests in the grocery stores are VERY accurate (within days), but the closer to conception - the more difficult to detect. Everyone is different. It's possible to test positive on a pregnancy test after having a baby, miscarriage, or abortion because the hormones are still in your body. You can have a period/bleeding even after you are pregnant, but it would probably be a lighter flow or a shorter duration. Probably different than your regular period. If your really worried about it...just buy the double pack.

yes, it`s way too soon to get an accurate result. i would think that if you get pregnant 4 or5 days before your period is due, then you would not still bleed. i know you want to know RIGHT NOW, but you will have to wait at least two to four weeks from the time you think you may have got pregnant, for an accurate result, because as you have said, the pregnancy hormone will not show up until then. good luck!!!

That's a little misunderstood. You can't literally get pregnant any time, there is only about one week a month that you can get pregnant, out of that one week you have 4 days to get pregnant.
You can only get pregnant right after you ovulate, if the egg reaches your uterus and it's not fertelized you can't get pregnant. The thing is that every woman's cycle is different and it can also vary from month to month based on many factors such as stress, sickness, how regularly you have sex etc. You can get pregnant any time of the month because you don't know for sure when you are ovulating, sperm can survive in your uterus up to 5 days. If you have sex today but don't ovulate until sunday you could still get pregnant.
If you get pregnant you WILL NOT get your period. Some women who are pregnant spt around the time of their period, this is not a period. It's very light and it will last one to two days max, this is implantaion bleeding.

The earliest you can test on most home pregnancy tests is 3 days before your period is due. if you start bleeding around this time does not necessarily mean you are pregnant, because your next period must have started!!!! usually a missed period ie no bleeding means you need to do a test!

most of the pregnancy test can be used 3-4 days before period date. if the test shows u r pregnant but u start ur period, most likely u r not pregnant, u should test again and try using a different brand

By the time the pregnancy test shows positive, you're usually around 6 weeks pregnant.

You asked that we not ignore this question so I didn't!!

If you are pregnant by your daughter's boyfriend the test will show positive after 3 days.

If you are pregnant by your Mum's boyfriend - the test will not show pregnant until after his full grown kids find out that you are seeing him and he leaves you.

If you are three years old when you are pregnant with your daughter. (which you must have been according to all of your questions that are a bunch of lies!) then the pregnancy test doesn't work at all!

If anybody is puzzled by this answer - just take a look at this woman's questions and you'll see that she just makes most of them up.

if you GET pregnant before your period, then your not supposed to bleed anymore. when you bleed, the walls of he vagina are broken to remove the 'dead' egg cell that was stuck during the last fertilization period. like a cleansing stage. therefore if you're pregnant, it is not 'dead' right? so you're not supposed to bleed anymore. there might be some small spotting, but not like the regular period.

so lets say you get pregnant before your period, then you're not supposed to bleed right? which means when you use a pregnancy test, it should indicate that you're indeed pregnant. even if it's only a few weeks old.
