How can I learn to do splits? I am 21 right now am I too old? I want to learn kick boxing and I just want to be able to kick really high? How long would it take for me to be able to do them?And is there any negative side effects of stretching your muscles in that area?

Stretch a little every day. I started taking karate when I was 33 years old and had almost achieved the splits when they raised the rate... I didn't have enough moeny to continue lessons, so...
And now I'm 45 and have torn knee cartilege... oh well...

Just practice... but be careful... If you go into kick boxing, be sure and take care of your knees!

You must do it regularly.
I learn Tae Kwon Do once and i practice splits everyday till it hurts.
But don't over do it coz u might over strecht you mucle.
For tips try to do warming up before u do splits.

stretch your legs...
Do PNF stretching...it combines passive stretching with active stretching with resistance. This is the key to lengthening your flexibility
